
Notis Sfakianakis
Notis Sfakianakis is one of the most established Greek artists, with more than 30 years of continuous and successful presence. He is the “lord of Greek discography”, with record sales exceeding 2 million copies, while holding the record for the biggest sales of the decade. He made his first steps into music in 1975 as a DJ in a club in Kos. Ten years later, he began singing, first in his own place with live music in Kos and then in a nightclub in Crete. In 1988 he moved to Athens, where he appeared next to well-known artists such as Polly Panou, Stamatis Kokotas and Giorgos Salampassis, while in 1990 he performed alongside Eleni Dimou in Thessaloniki. The same year he recorded his first song, titled “Nostalgeis Ta Perasmena”, which is included in Sakis Kavatzikiotis’s album “One”. Since the release of his first album, “Proti For a”, in 1991, Notis Sfakianakis has achieved an enormous commercial success, with all of his albums being certificated platinum from one to seven times. Among others, the albums “Notioanatolika Tou Kosmou”, “5o Vima”, “Oi Notes Einai 7Psyxes” and “XXX Enthymion” were the biggest commercial albums in Greece in 1994, 1996, 1998 and 1999 respectively, the 7th platinum “XXX Enthymion” broke the decade-long sales record, while the platinum “…Kai O Eros Theos Einai…” took first place in physical record sales for 2018. He has collaborated with renowned creators such as Tasos Vougiatzis, Panos Falaras, Alekos Chrysobergis, Spyros Yatras, Pix Lax, George Moukidis, Vicky Gerothodorou, Ekinos + Ekinos, Sofi Pappa, Ilias Filippou and Christoforos Germenis. He has many solo live shows, as well as on stage collaborations with artists such as Vassilis Karras, Kaiti Garbi and Stamatis Gonidis. At the same time, his concerts outside Greece are also sold out: among others, he has sung at the Wembley Arena Theater in London and in the largest venues in Germany, Belgium, America, Canada and Australia. Notis Sfakianakis has also developed a multitude of charitable acts through his music. Indicatively, all the proceeds from the album “Empeirion Syllektis” (1997) were donated to the acrimonious community of Ormeni, the northernmost Greek region, in March 2000 he sang in a charity concert for “To Hamogelo Tou Paidiou” at the Peace and Friendship Stadium, while proceeds from a concert he gave in Sydney were donated to the Kastellorizo Municipality for the renovation of the Elementary School.
