Pyx Lax is the leading and most influential Greek rock band, with a career spanning 30 years full of hits, hundreds of sold out concerts and about 1 million record sales. It all started in the early ‘90s, when two friends, Filippos Pliatsikas and Babis Stokas, handed over some recorded songs to Manos Xydous, who was working for a record company, while the band’s name was was inspired by the title of a theatrical play which was taking place in Athens at the period in which the band was formed. The band disbanded in 2004 and reunited in the summer of 2011 for a nationwide tour – a tribute to Manos Xydous, while in the summer of 2018 they reunited permanently. They have awarded multi-platinum, platinum and gold sales certifications, while their songs are considered classic and timeless and have been loved by everyone, even those who are not rock lovers. At the same time, they have won music awards, both as the best band, as well as for the album of the year. In 1990 they released their debut album, titled “Ti Allo Na Peis Pio Apla”, from which “Me Stelneis” immediately stood out, followed by “Zorikoi Kairoi” (1991), which includes the legendary “Poula Me”. The album that established them was “O Ilios Tou Chimona Me Melagxoli”, with songs such as “Giati”, “Astin Na Leei” (vocals by Vassilis Karras) and “Hathikes Alitissa”, released in 1993 Their next album, “Gia Tous Prigkipes tis Dytikis Ohthis” (1994) was certified gold. Big hits were included in the album, such as “De Tha Dakryso Pia Gia Sena”, “Aonites Agapes” (along with Haris & Panos Katsimihas) and “Ti Ine Afto Pou Mas Chorizi”. In 1996 they releaed “O Baboulas Tragoudaei Monos Tis Nyxtes”, their first album that was certified platinum, followed by the live album “Zontani Ichografisi stin Iera Odo” and the cd-single “Nychterinos Peripatos stin Iera Odo” in collaboration with one of Greece’s long established top singers George Dalaras. Both records were certified platinum sales. The same year the band released another live album, “Paixe Paliatso Ta Tragoudia Sou Telionoun,” including live recordings from its performances during the period 1991-1997. In 1998 they released the platinum album “Stilvi” which contains songs such as “Monaxia Mou Ola”, “Mia Synousia Mystiki” and “Epapses Agapi Na Tisimizeis”, as well as songs written for the movie “Monaxia Mou Ola”. Their biggest commercial success was in 1999 and is the double album “Yparchoun Xrysopsara Edo?”, with new songs, reissues of their older hits and live recordings, which was certified 3xplatinum. After two cd-singles with collaborations, “Netrino” with Lakis Papadopoulos and “As’ Tin Eikona Na Milaie” with I. Muvrini and Sting, they released the double album “Ta Dokaria Sto Grasidi Perimenoun Ta Paidia” (2001), which went platinum and, a year later, they released “Apo Edo Kai Apo Kei”, which includes most of their previous collaborations. In 2003, they released the album “Charoumeni Stin Poli ton Trelon”. in which they collaborated with Eric Burdon, Gordon Gano, Marc Almond and Steve Wynn. In 2004, the band announced in a television interview that it would be dissolved after two goodbye concerts. The concerts were scheduled for 18 September in Athens and 20 September in Thessaloniki. Tickets for the Athens concert were sold out within a few hours, and a second concert was arranged for 19 September. Their final album, called “Telos” was a recording of the first goodbye concert in Lykavittos, Athens. In the summer of 2011 they held a mini tour as a tribute to Manos Xydous, who passed away in 2010. After concerts in Ioannina, Alexandroupolis, Kavala, Larissa and Ayia Napa, they performed at OAKA, in front of more than 80,000 spectators! The tour continued with many more concerts around Greece. After several tours, in 2018 they returned to the discography, with “Mia Mera Prin Ton Chimona”. The song “To Aspro Mou Poukamiso” became immediately a hit and, later on, was presented in a duet with Paola, pleasantly surprising everyone. In 2019 they released the EP “Kontra Stou Xronou Ti Skouria” with which they marked their summer tour, while in December of the same year they released an adaptation of “Tin PortaAnoigo To Vrady” the poem by Tassos Leivaditis that has been set to music by Mikis Theodorakis, announcing a cycle of songs about the work of the great Greek composer from their own musical perspective.
